Roast My Contract is an AI-assisted contract roast – a fast, opinionated check that calls out lopsided terms and legal landmines, then translates them into clear, practical insights you can actually use.
Instead of fighting through pages of legalese, you get a structured, easy-to-understand roast that spotlights the risky bits, unfair clauses, and leverage points you should push on before you agree to anything.
Most people sign contracts they don't fully understand. Legal reviews are expensive, and DIY reading is stressful and slow.
We created Roast My Contract to close that gap – to give founders, freelancers, and small businesses a way to get clarity before they sign, without needing a lawyer on speed dial.
Roast My Contract was born out of the frustration of seeing people skip proper contract review because of high legal costs, only to discover later that they had agreed to terms that left them in a very weak position with almost no room to manoeuvre.
We realised that most of these issues were predictable and detectable. With the right structure and the right prompts, AI could help catch them quickly and explain them in plain language. As AI capabilities accelerated, we reached a point where we felt enough was enough and decided to use that progress to correct this problem instead of letting people keep signing contracts they barely understood.
So we built a workflow that mimics what a careful reviewer does: scan, flag, prioritise, and then explain – without the drama, and without the hourly rate.
1. A high-level summary of what the contract is really saying, in normal language instead of dense legal terms. This gives you a quick grasp of the overall deal without having to read every line three times.
2. A detailed list of risky, unusual, or one-sided clauses, explained in plain English. You see exactly which sections tilt the agreement against you and why they matter.
3. Concrete suggestions for questions to ask or changes to request before you sign. You get practical talking points you can use in a negotiation or discussion with the other side.
4. Pointers on where you might want a human lawyer to take a closer look. We highlight the areas that are sensitive, complex, or high-impact so you can decide where to invest in extra advice.
1. Founders signing software, partnership, or investor agreements who want to understand the trade-offs before committing their company. If you are about to give equity, access, or control to someone else, you should know exactly what is in the paperwork.
2. Freelancers and agencies dealing with client contracts and scopes of work. We help you spot scope creep, vague deliverables, or payment terms that quietly put all of the risk on you.
3. Small businesses reviewing supplier, lease, or service agreements with long terms and lots of obligations. A roast can surface renewal traps, hidden fees, and responsibilities that could hurt you later.
4. Anyone who wants to understand what they're signing before they commit. If you ever feel that uneasy "I hope this is fine" moment before clicking Sign, a roast is designed for you.
1. You paste or upload your contract. We convert what you send into clean markdown and infer the key contract details – contract type, legislative country, and area of law – so the system knows what kind of agreement it is before we go deeper. You can approve or tweak the contract details before we go deeper.
2. Our system analyses the text, looks for known risk patterns, and organises the findings. It scans for red flags, unusual clauses, and missing protections that typically cause problems later.
3. We generate a structured report in clear language, grouped by risk level and importance. The output is designed so you can skim the highlights first, then dive into the detail when you need it.
4. You use that report to negotiate, get advice, or decide with confidence whether to sign. The goal is not just to warn you, but to give you enough clarity to move forward without second-guessing every clause.
We believe no one should feel tricked by fine print. Roast My Contract exists to make complex agreements understandable and to help you spot trouble before it becomes expensive.
If a roast ever feels unclear or unhelpful, we want to hear about it – the product is built to keep improving with every contract reviewed.
